Two years ago, seemingly out of nowhere, telehealth became a household word. Consumers had a new way to experience interactions with their doctors and it was convenient, high quality and improved access. Doctors stepped up too and many experienced use cases for this tool set that they had not previously thought of. However, providers are still reticent to fully commit to telehealth adoption because of reimbursement uncertainties, workflow challenges, investments needed, and other obstacles that remain in the way. Dr. Kvedar takes a deeper look from the perspective of patients, providers and payers, and what role each would play in scaling telehealth in a multichannel healthcare delivery system.
