Dr. Demaerschalk joined Mayo Clinic staff in 2001, and is a professor in the Department of Neurology, chair of cerebrovascular diseases division, director of telestroke, and medical director of digital health research.
Dr. Demaerschalk specializes in stroke, emergency and hospital neurology, telemedicine, and digital healthcare. He has authored guidelines for the management of acute ischemic stroke, thrombolysis in stroke, telestroke, teleneurology, virtual care curriculum, and virtual care value frameworks.
He received the Distinguished Mayo Educator and Distinguished Mayo Clinician awards as well as the Arizona Medical Association and Arizona Department of Health Services Public Service Awards.
